CV takes it, Mullins MVP

Chenango Valley Warriors: 66
Union-Endicott Tigers: 57

The Chenango Valley Warriors varsity basketball team beat the Union-Endicott Tigers 66-57 in the STOP-DWI Holiday Classic Regional Division I championship game on Sunday at the Broome County Veterans Memorial Arena. The Warriors were led by Matt Mullins, who has been on fire during the tournament, having 22 points, 10 rebounds and four assists versus U-E. He was chosen MVP of the tournament, scoring a total of 57 points in two games for CV. Chris Mack had 15 points, and Eric Bidwell had 12 as the Warriors beat a Class AA team to become tournament champions. Before the tournament, Chenango Valley had experienced some rough losses becoming (3-4). A loss in Owego, and a home loss to Norwich after leading by 17 at one point put the Warriors in a tough situation coming into the tournament. However, it seems that Mullins has found his groove and playing has intensified for Chenango Valley, beating a Class A and Class AA team in come-from-behind fashion. The Warriors (5-4) need to keep this momentum going for their non-divisional games versus Maine-Endwell and Johnson City, and eventually their home game versus the undefeated Windsor Black Knights on January 18th. If Mullins and the CV crew can find a rhythm, they will find success in 2008.Listen to the entire game at SouthernTierSportsNetwork.com.
