Those who don’t remember last year’s game need to be reminded that the newly brewed CV-Windsor divisional rivalry is important. Really important.
It all started in 2006 when Windsor put an end to CVs playoffs hopes in the final six seconds – scoring a touchdown and 2-point conversion to beat the Warriors 15-14.
Last year in 2007, it was the game that everyone was talking about. Coming off Forks week, CV played incredibly well against one of Class B’s elite teams, but no one cared about the 34-26 win where a Windsor drive was stopped at CV’s doorstep in the fourth quarter . A sideline skirmish between Brian Stinson and several Windsor players energized both sides in an emotional, hard-fought, Homecoming game.
This season, Chenango Valley, Chenango Forks and Windsor are no longer the Week 5 powerhouses. Class B is wide open in terms of playoff birth – each team needs to win every game they can to make it in. With Norwich undefeated, Oneonta shocking Forks and Windsor injured, this is gonna be one heck of a ride until the playoffs.
